Sharon-May joined Education New Zealand in March 2023 as Director Sector Engagement with responsibility for leading a team of business development managers dedicated to helping education providers to grow their capability and success in International Education.

Prior to this, Sharon-May was with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise in a range of roles supporting NZ exporters to realise their international growth ambitions, including Customer Director, Regional Director Australia Pacific and Trade Commissioner Hong Kong.

Sharon-May has also held senior sales, marketing and business development positions across the New Zealand export food industry, with a focus on Asian markets, including with Enza (formerly the NZ Apple and Pear Marketing Board) in Singapore. She has a management degree specialising in Japanese and international business from the University of Waikato.
